Chignahuapan
ECOTOURISM AND ADVENTURE TOURISM
Chignahuapan is located in a valley which is the beginning of the Sierra Norte of Puebla. The meaning of its name in Nahuatl is "Above the nine waters". Chignahuapan is colourful and full of charm, as if the whole town was a canvas; houses, temples, and gardens are painted in the most cheerful palette of Mexican colours. The joy is accentuated in the main streets, with many combinations of ocher, blue, orange, green and purple walls. When the sun shines, millions of ornaments, which are exposed in the stores, gleam. A spectacle like any other.
The weather in Chignahuapan is semi-cold with rains during the summer; the average temperature during the year is between 5 and 12 ºC, although it may lower from -3 to 18 ºC during the coldest months (October - February). Because of the low temperatures, it is recommended to bring thermal clothes. Also, the fog is very common, as well as the frosts during December and January.
